Settlement permit - entitled to asylum or refugee
Im Gegensatz zu der Aufenthaltserlaubnis ist die Niederlassungserlaubnis (§ 26 Abs. 3 Aufenthaltsgesetz) ein unbefristeter Aufenthaltstitel. Die Erteilung der Niederlassungserlaubnis hängt von der Integration des Ausländers ab. Sie berechtigt zur Ausübung einer Erwerbstätigkeit.

The requirements are met if:
e n t w h e t h e foreigner has been
- has been in possession of a residence permit as a person entitled to asylum or as a refugee for 5 years and
- his or her livelihood is predominantly secured and
- has sufficient knowledge of the German language ("Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer" passed at level A2),
or the foreigner
- has been in possession of a residence permit as a person entitled to asylum or as a refugee for 3 years and
- has mastered the German language ("Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer" passed at level C1) and
- his or her livelihood is predominantly secured,
as well as
- the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees has not initiated any revocation or withdrawal proceedings
- there is no interest in deportation against the foreigner (e.g. due to criminal offences),
- the foreigner is permitted to work, provided that he or she is an employee,
- the foreigner is in possession of a permit for the permanent pursuit of gainful employment, if this is required (for example, a professional permit),
- the foreigner has basic knowledge of the legal and social order and living conditions in the Federal territory (test "Living in Germany" at least 15 questions answered correctly),
- the foreigner has sufficient living space for himself and his family members.

Register with the appointment code
You will receive an appointment code with your appointment. If you are not on time, the appointment will be cancelled. Half an hour before the appointment you can register at the multilingual registration terminal of the Foreigners' Registration Office with the appointment code. You do not need to pull a ticket!
Appointment confirmation is considered a fictitious certificate
If you make your appointment via our online appointment system, you will receive a fictitious certificate which you can print out together with the binding appointment confirmation. This certificate is valid in Germany and bridges the time until the appointment.

- Suitable proof of income (e.g. salary statement for the last three months, last income tax assessment, bank statements, employment contract)
