Protected areas - applying for construction and other projects
Construction projects, events or other measures that are planned in whole or in part in protected areas or legally protected biotopes require approval from the lower nature conservation authority.
Details
Due to its geological and topographical situation, Jena has a unique and diverse natural environment that needs to be preserved. Some parts of the urban area are therefore under special protection. The slopes and wooded areas in particular have been designated as European protected areas (EU-SPA, FFH) as well as nature and landscape conservation areas (NSG, LSG).
Smaller areas and objects in the urban area have also been placed under special protection. An overview of the protected areas and objects in Jena can be found in the overview map under downloads.
Certain activities are prohibited or restricted in protected areas. The respective purpose of protection and the prohibitions in nature reserves are regulated by the corresponding legal ordinances, which are also available for download.
