Settlement permit - holders of humanitarian residence permits
Im Gegensatz zu der Aufenthaltserlaubnis ist die Niederlassungserlaubnis (§ 26 Abs. 4 Aufenthaltsgesetz) ein unbefristeter Aufenthaltstitel. Sie berechtigt zur Ausübung einer Erwerbstätigkeit.
Details
The requirements are fulfilled if:
- the foreigner has been in possession of the residence permit for 5 years on the basis of international law, humanitarian or political grounds,
- his livelihood is secured (no receipt of public benefits),
- he can prove at least 60 months of contributions to the statutory pension insurance or comparable insurance benefits,
- there is no interest in deportation against him/her (e.g. due to criminal offences),
- the foreigner is permitted to work, provided he is an employee,
- he/she has a permit to pursue his/her gainful employment on a permanent basis, if this is required (e.g. professional permit),
- he has sufficient knowledge of the German language ("Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer" passed at level B1),
- he/she has basic knowledge of the legal and social order and living conditions in the Federal Republic ("Living in Germany" test answered at least 15 questions correctly),
- he/she has sufficient living space for him/herself and his/her family members.

To make an appointment, you must be registered with your main residence in Jena.
Register with the appointment code
You will receive an appointment code with your appointment. If you are not on time, the appointment will be cancelled. Half an hour before the appointment you can register at the multilingual registration terminal of the Foreigners' Registration Office with the appointment code. You do not need to pull a ticket!
Appointment confirmation is considered a fictitious certificate
If you make your appointment via our online appointment system, you will receive a fictitious certificate which you can print out together with the binding appointment confirmation. This certificate is valid in Germany and bridges the time until the appointment.

- suitable proof of income (e.g. salary statement for the last three months, last income tax assessment, bank statements, employment contract)
