Prerequisite

You have your main residence in Jena.

Application

A representation for the application is not possible, since the card driver's license contains your signature, which must already be made with the application. You do not have to fill in an application form. It will be prepared by us and only signed by you.

• If a driving licence has been lost or destroyed, the previous holder must report the loss immediately and have a replacement document issued, unless he or she renounces the driving licence.
• As a replacement driving licence you will always receive the new card driving licence. This is produced centrally by the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin.
• As the processing time is approx. 4 weeks, a "temporary driving licence" will be issued until your replacement driving licence is handed over.

• Passport or identity card
• Photo: Please bring a photo that is not older than three months and complies with biometric regulations. The picture must be 3.5 x 4.5 cm. You can find out what the picture must look like on the Bundesdruckerei website (see links).
• Card transcript: If the lost driver's license or the first copy was not issued by the Jena City Council, an index card transcript from the out-of-town driver's license authority that issued the driver's license is required. Please request the copy of the index card yourself from the responsible driving licence authority and have it sent directly to us or sent by fax.
• Proof of driving licence issuance (index card "VK 30") for issuance in the former GDR from 1968 to 1982
• If you lose your driving licence, you must make an affirmation in lieu of an oath about the loss and the circumstances of the loss. You can submit the affirmation in lieu of an oath to us or to a notary.
