Death certificate

• Identity card or identity card exemption or registration certificate of the deceased person
• Death certificate (in the case of an unnatural death or unexplained cause of death, additionally the death certificate of the responsible police department and the release of the public prosecutor's office)
• Notification of death with additional information
• Power of attorney of the appointed relative

and

• Depending on your marital status, the following civil status certificates:
  • single: birth certificate
  • married: birth certificate and marriage certificate
  • divorced: birth certificate, marriage certificate and final divorce decree
  • widowed: Birth certificate, marriage certificate and death certificate of spouse.

Information on notifications of domestic deaths by funeral directors (§ 29 PStG)

"...(2) If a funeral home registered with a Chamber of Trade or Chamber of Industry and Commerce has been commissioned with the notification, the notification may also be made in writing."

Please submit a one-time copy of written proof of your funeral home's registration to us.

If this proof is not available at the time of notarization of a domestic death, show it verbally as a funeral director. Please bring your identity card with you for this purpose.
