What happens when the immune system is misdirected and acts against its own body? We take you on a journey inside the brain.

Autoimmune brain inflammations are rare but serious and sometimes life-threatening diseases of the central nervous system. The body's own defenses are directed against various receptors at the contact points of the nerve cells, the synapses, thereby disrupting signal transmission in the brain. Those affected, usually young adults, experience psychoses such as hallucinations, epileptic seizures and clouding of consciousness leading to coma. In the research group

As part of this year's Long Night of Science, we would like to invite you to get to know our SYNABS team in Jena and the research projects being carried out at the University Hospital. Observe neurons under the stereomicroscope and gain insights into the research work.

At the poster, we will show you how the group coordinated at Jena University Hospital is searching for mechanistic pathways and new therapeutic approaches.

Location: Stand A29
Time: 18.00 - 24.00 hrs
